Swingin' with The Shiny Lapel Trio

The Shiny Lapel Trio is a tiny little band with a great big sound! Keeping it simple with just three rockin' instruments, and a big ol' slice of velvety smooth vocals, these guys tear up a dance floor like a carpenter late for lunch. Whether they're rippin' through a classic Louis Prima standard, or makin' ya cry with a Nat King Cole ballad, the instruments grind along full throttle while the vocals float across the top as thick as a layer of gritty bar room smoke. Oh, they schwing baby and it ain't for the faint at heart!

The Social has delicious cocktails, 50 beers on tap and a huge hard wood dance floor! If you want a band that'll make your feet hurt from dancing and your voice hoarse from singing along, then you need to see what the Shiny Lapels are all about: Pure, sweaty, sinful swingin' fun!

Chris Mackay & The Toneshifters

Chris MacKay & the ToneShifters was formed in the fall of 2009. Chris started his career playing percussion with New London CT new wave act Newjohnny 5 in the early days of the blossoming New London, CT music scene. The band attracted national attention and soon shared bills with many national acts touring the East Coast and down South performing at such venues as C.B.G.B.’s, the infamous Studio 54 and the Hartford Civic Center.

Chris went on to front a series of bands playing original music covering everything from hard rock, blues, funk, rockabilly and alt rock and gained a wealth of experience in many different genres. In 2009 Chris was looking to form a blues /roots band where he could combine different genres into a cohesive mix of originals and obscure covers. Working with musicians from many different musical backgrounds it soon took on a life of its own when the diversity and individual tastes of the band members began to mesh into a tasty stew of danceable roots music.

The band has shared bills with Dr John, Johnny Winter,James Montgomery, Christine Ohlman, Sean Chambers, Nick Moss & the Fliptops, Mike Zito and many other top blues acts.

Tickets: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3319644

Since we've opened, we've wanted to feature this amazing band and finally, we've set a date! Don't miss this amazing brass band on February 3rd!

The Funky Dawgz are one of the premier touring acts on the live music scene today. Emerging from Connecticut, these young men have engulfed the spirit and traditions of New Orleans as well as earned the respect from local musicians who grew up and reside in the city. It is impossible not to enjoy yourself during a show as they play a contagious upbeat mix of traditional New Orleans R&B, original music, hip hop, funk, and today’s top hits with a brass twist.

They have toured internationally and have been featured in all corners of the live music scene. From playing sold out shows at Madison Square Garden as the horn section for Dispatch, to Camp Bisco, to closing out The Peach Music Festival, their performances flow seamlessly from EDM festivals to jam band festivals to traditional New Orleans second line parades.

There is a reason they were featured as one of Live For Live Music's Brass Bands You Need To Know. The Funky Dawgz are dropping jaws. These high energy horns have been featured on bills with Dispatch, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, We The Kings, Snarky Puppy, The Soul Rebels, Lettuce, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Rebirth Brass Band, Twiddle, Turkuaz, Kung Fu, Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Ryan Montbleau, and Glen David Andrews and the list continues.

When the band is not playing shows they are giving back to the community. The Funky Dawgz aim to connect, engage, inspire and rejuvenate music education in inner city schools across the country. The band frequently gives performances and master classes to young musicians in elementary, middle, and high schools across the region. Come see what all the hype is about!
