Green Tea

Green Tea was formed in 2001... after 17 years they are going strong with a wealth of original material, a 5th studio CD recently released and contagious momentum. The six-piece line up consists of two guitars, bass, keys, drums, and the dynamic Amie Coffey on vocals.

Toby Kniffin is the primary songwriter, with his well-crafted compositions work. He has been playing and writing for over twenty-five years, has performed up and down the East Coast and has learned how to harness emotion and craft songs that can be delivered by a live band. He spent the late 80s and most of the 90s fronting the very successful group Third Stone. Since then he has been a leading force in the bands Liquid Dead, based out of Burlington, VT and The Desolation Angels from New York. Rounding out the line-up are Jamie Conroy, Marty Moroney, Michael Chicoria and Jason Hartley. Music influencing the sound of Green Tea ranges from the melody and magic of Garcia/Hunter, to the driving rock n roll and melody work of the Allman Brothers. Mix that with a Dylanesque writing approach that focuses on the lost art of “the song”….you get Green Tea, a unique and rich sound that is chock full of our forefathers, yet pushes all corners of the proverbial envelope.

Chris started his career playing percussion with New London CT new wave act Newjohnny 5 in the early days of the blossoming New London, CT music scene. The band attracted national attention and soon shared bills with many national acts touring the East Coast and down South performing at such venues as C.B.G.B.’s, the infamous Studio 54 and the Hartford Civic Center.

Hailing from New London, CT, the Franklin Brothers Band consists of brothers Jay Franklin (keyboards and vocals) and Carl Franklin (guitars and vocals) along side an always killer line-up of impeccable local musicians. The current configuration includes a 4-piece horn section (affectionately known as the "Brassholes"), the inimitable Amie Coffey on lead and backup vocals, Ty Coleman on drums, Kevin Carey on bass, and sometimes precussionist Che Cartafalsa. All in all there are 23 rotating members.

The music is all about the groove. Just listen.

"Sophisticated, polished, intelligent pop music. If you were separating the genetic twine of their music, you'd find cellular imprints of Steely Dan, Toy Matinee, Atlanta Rhythm Section and Toto along with a sneaky, evocative dash of New Orleans seasoning."
- Rick Koster, Peter Huoppi. The New London Day

"I don't do as many sideman dates anymore. But Carl's funk/jazz/pop stuff is interesting to me. He's really good, and the guys in his band are really good."
